The Indigo Learning platform is one of my most ambitious projects, designed to deliver a complete Learning Management System (LMS) solution that meets the unique requirements of municipalities. This project was guided by a bold question: How close can I get to creating a fully functional, scalable LMS that offers municipalities a cost-free alternative to existing e-learning and LMS systems?
Through innovative development and thoughtful design, Indigo Learning provides a robust and user-friendly platform tailored to the public sector’s needs.
Project Premise: A Free LMS Alternative
Municipalities often face significant challenges when implementing and maintaining LMS solutions, particularly due to high costs and lack of customization in off-the-shelf systems. With Indigo Learning, I set out to create a platform that combines powerful functionality, ease of use, and zero licensing fees. Built on WordPress and LearnPress, the solution leverages open-source tools to provide a cost-effective alternative while meeting the rigorous demands of municipal workflows.
Design principles: Accessibility, intuition, and engagement

Accessibility is a top priority, with every feature and page designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. This ensures that the platform is inclusive and functional for all users, including those with disabilities. Indigo Learning represents a modern approach to education in the public sector. By combining accessibility, intuitive design, and gamification with scalable, open-source technology, I’ve created a solution that empowers municipalities to deliver high-quality training experiences without the financial burden of traditional LMS systems. The platform is already available for over 12,000 users, highlighting its ability to meet real-world demands while fostering an engaging learning environment.
